Today's contest was a close one, with Gojira's L'Enfant Sauvage and Enabler's All Hail The Void scoring equally well in terms of brutality, moshiness, and musical ability. But when it comes to memorability, Gojira pulls ahead handily. Songs like Explosia and The Axe are instant classics, total earworms, and frankly the reason that Gojira was able to win. Too bad: I was definitely rooting for Enabler, who defied the odds to make it even this far.
All hail Gojira! They'll be back on Thursday, squaring off against As I Lay Dying in our first Semifinal bout! But first, we have one more Quarterfinal: Between The Buried And Me against Pig Destroyer. It's weird-on-weird weirdness!
