Before I say another word, rest assured that both Gojira and BTBAM have deserved their triumphant marches to this, the final contest of the Arsies.
That said, as excellent as the Gojira is, The Parallax II is in all ways a bigger album than L'Enfant Sauvage. It's longer, more epic, more ambitious, more memorable. Gojira does dominate BTBAM in terms of pure metal fury, but the dynamicism of The Parallax II makes its metal moments mean more when they do hit. You can hear this power in the transition from the middle to the end of Telos, which also wins this year's Most Epic Metal Moment award that I just now made up.
Congratulations to Between The Buried And Me! They join the ranks of Isis, Iron Maiden, and Decapitated as winners of the vaunted Gilded Arse.
